Todo, I'm Afraid We're Not In Iowa Anymore

Day #279

I swear it's like I live in Oklahoma! My oh my have we had some bad weather, mainly involving tornadoes!

Right around 1/1:30pm, the weather turned super sour! It started storming and down pouring like crazy! It got so bad that we lost power at home for about 30 minutes, and our street even flooded! Gage ended up coming over after he got off work, and Katy was sent home from babysitting early since there were tornado warnings sent out in our area. Oh great. More severe weather. :P

On a positive note, however, I was called into work late. I didn't have to go in until 4, and I'm completely fine with that. I didn't want to go out in the nasty weather anyways.

Work was super slow tonight, so Ashley and I worked on moving merchandise around in the store for the big markdown occurring tomorrow. That kept us pretty busy, and started to make time move a little faster. HALLELUJAH.

Weather has finally calmed down, so off to bed I go.

Here's my outfit!

The Last Day

Day 279

Hi!! I've been a mess for a while today since I know it's my last full day with Adam, but I'm going to soldier on and try to be positive. Here's another short, sweet post, so onto my outfit: a white lace Forever 21 tank top ($6 from Plato's Closet) and a pair of printed American Eagle shorts ($30ish).

Similar Forever 21 tank top
I love the pattern on these shorts. They're so fun :-)

For some color, I went with my pointy-toed teal American Eagle flats ($7.50 on sale).

Tornadoes: Inside And Out

Day #278

Hello Sunday!!!

No church this morning. Everyone had a late night in the Salmon household so sleeping in was chosen path. No complaints here!

Unfortunately for this girl, my body decided that I didn't need to sleep in. So I was awake by 7. Real frustrating.

I tried to go back to sleep but my body was not feeling it! So I hoped out of bed, ate some breakfast, finished my laundry, and continued to do my daily routine. I cleaned the rest of my room, made my bed, AND got showered and ready for the day. I was already at the point of showering when my parents finally woke up. And can you believe this? I made lunch. ME! I put a pizza in for myself so I could eat before going into work at 1:30. I even cleaned up after myself. I'm such a big girl! lol

Work wasn't too terrible. We stayed relatively busy, especially after closing, when we had the Splurge party! A large group of moms and daughters came into the store for the private shopping excursion to prepare for a fashion show coming up that their group, called 4H, was putting on. They tried on just about everything in the store, so the place was a wreck after they all finally left! It seriously looked like a tornado had gone through the store!

We had some pretty good sales though! Almost $800 worth of merchandise was sold, plus we had 3 credit card sign-ups- wooh!- and 2 of them were under me. :)

It got super nasty outside towards final closing of the store, and there were tornado warnings sent out in the area. I got home as soon as possible! I don't mess around when it comes to tornado warnings and watches! Those things freak me out!

No tornadoes occurred in CF, thank the Lord! I was able to relax and go to bed after a crazy night at work, and not have to worry about my house being swallowed by a wind tunnel raging through the city. :P

Off to bed I go!

Oh Sunday

Day 278

Hello there!! So, today is second-to-last day before Adam leaves for his seven month deployment. It's a little bittersweet... But I'm just trying to stay positive so Adam and I can enjoy our time together. This post is going to stay short and sweet just like the previous ones, and to do so, I'm going to get straight to my outfit: a Black Poppy dress ($12 from Plato's Closet) with a neon pink skinny belt.

Similar dress from PacSun
The chevron arrows on this dress are adorable :-)

ALWAYS add a skinny belt, mmk?
For shoes, I went with a simple pair of R2 sandals from Buckle ($40).

Jeans Are Meant For The Fall

Day #277

Again with the rain and chilly weather. Nothing puts more of a damper on working and the weekend than sucky weather. I could really go without.

I haven't worn jeans to work in a while, so I thought I'd try out the jeans for my Saturday shift. Bad idea. Although it was chilly outside, the store was hot! I was moving around so much and the jeans I wore were pretty think, so I was burning up and sweating for a little while. :P I can't imagine how much worse it would have been had it been busy at maurices...yikes!

I ended up getting sent home early- totally fine! I was dying of heat and I was hungry. I didn't complain once ounce that I was getting let go early. Plus, I'll be getting some pretty good hours tomorrow with the Splurge party we have going on after closing.

Here's the hot outfit!

Card Playing and Margarita Drinking

Day 277

Hi!! Since I had the day off today, I spent a large majority of it with Adam, and I loved every second of it. We ran errands, hung out, and spent some time with our friends the Montgomerys. I'm going to keep this post short, so here's the low down on my outfit: a printed JollyChic.com top ($16) and Papaya denim shorts ($12).

Somewhat similar Papaya shorts
This top is super freaking cute :-)

JollyChic.com top
My shoes were a purple pair of Mossmio flats ($6 from Plato's Closet) since they match, they're cute, and they're comfy.

Hanging out with our friends consisted of drinking two margarita buckets between the six of us while playing Cards Against Humanity. I love the four of us playing this game because of moments like the ones pictured below. We all tend to think alike :-P

First hilarious "box" card moment
Not once, but twice we had this happen. We're hilarious. For real :-P

Second hilarious "box" card moment
The "box" cards only come with the giant box that's purchased separately to hold all of the expansion packs (four total) plus the normal pack. These cards are some of the funniest ones in the entire game. True story. Now, after sharing these comical moments... I'm going to head out. So, until the next time... Stay fabulous, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Jeans In Summer? Sure!

Day #276

Happy Friday. And I mean that in the least exciting way possible.

Not to be negative or anything, but it's a gross day. Today kicked off the annual Sturgis Falls weekend, which is a carnival/band/street fair thing that we do here in Cedar Falls. I finally have someone to spend my Sturgis Falls weekend with, like Gage, and of course he's going to be gone all weekend.

He came over after he got off work, but just for a few hours, and then he headed out for Des Moines to see his grandparents for the weekend. He's moving in with them in a little over a month so he's going there to get everything ready and brace himself for living with them. He would choose Sturgis weekend to go. :P

I didn't have to work today, but it was rainy. Yet again, I was unable to lay out. In fact, it was kind of chilly outside. I ended up pulling out my jeans. JEANS, MAN! JEANS! It is almost July, for Pete's sake, and I'm pulling jeans out of my closet. And not just jeans, but a 3/4 length sleeve top. RIDICULOUS.

Anyways, for dinner my parents took Kimmy and I to Culvers- Katy was gone with Jake. They messed up our order, for the one hundredth time, but luckily my food was okay! They just overcharged us, gave my mom the wrong burger, and they gave us an extra drink. What morons.

I was super tired today, so I didn't do much. I hope your day was better!

No Work Friday

Day 276

Howdy!! Today was day off number three for me, and it was full of relaxation and spending time with Adam. I only have a handful of days left with him before he leaves for seven months, and I don't want to waste any time that could be spent with him. After having said that, these next few posts are going to be short and sweet, focusing on the outfits more than anything else.

And now my outfit for the day: a green Xhilaration dress ($20 or so) with a skinny black belt.

Xhilaration dress
This dress is super cute and was totally worth the money. I love the chevron texturing.

Adding a skinny belt is always a good idea :-)
I went with a patterned pointy flat from SammyDress.com ($18) to add some more interest to the outfit.

Pick Me! Pick Me! Pick Me!

Day #275

Let me start off today's post by saying how much I have missed wearing this dress!

The first time I wore it was last summer when I went to visit Gage in Charleston, and it's been lingering in my closet ever since, begging me to pull it out and show off it's glamour. So that's just what I did!

I was trying to look for the opportune moment to wear the dress, when I noticed a new dress we had gotten in store at maurices that was very similar. Well, when I work, we have to wear maurices-styled clothing, and since this dress is like the one in store, I was able to get away with wearing it. Yay for me! :)

Work was alright. I got off a little early since we weren't all that busy, but I had a fun time with my co-workers, which is always good.

I plan on relaxing the rest of the night, and maybe tackle the ever increasing pile that has accumulated on my floor...but we'll see about that!

Have a good night!

More "Fabulous" is NEVER a Bad Thing

Day 275

Hi!! Just like yesterday, I decided to get up earlier than expected to head on over to Dillard's to purchase another fabulous item. And just like yesterday, I'll get to that part in a bit. First, though, is my outfit, which consisted of a patterned Charlotte Russe peplum top ($20 or so) and a basic pair of American Eagle skinny jeans ($35). Cute and perfect for some shopping.

Similar American Eagle skinnies
I LOVE THIS TOP!! Just in case you were wondering ;-)

For shoes, I went with a pair of tan pointy-toed Rue 21 flats ($8 or so on sale). They're comfy and they totally go with my outfit.

Similar Rue21 flats
Now onto the item I purchased: another beautiful Michael Kors purse :-P I had also set this one aside like the other one, but not for as long. It was originally the same price as the other one ($298) and went on sale for the same price ($208), but unlike the other one, I didn't pay the same price since I chose not to use my Dillard's card where my discount comes from. This beauty ended up only being $150, which is still an amazing price :-)

After shopping and the relaxing, I then got to spend the rest of the day with Adam, which is one of my most favorite things to do :-) I'm going to continue doing so, so until the next time... Stay fabulous and forever trending, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Tanks So Comfy You'll Freak!

Day #274

I got a new tank top a week or so ago from American Eagle, and I am now obsessed with it! It's extremely soft, comfortable, and versatile; it's great for working out or just lounging around on a hot summer day. I would highly recommend getting some for yourself!

The highlight of my day today was probably going to Gage's softball game; not much else happened. I was supposed to have my hair cut, but I ended up rescheduling since I- honestly- just wasn't feeling it today. :P

Gage's team lost, again. Sad day. :(

Well, anyways, here's the cute top I was raving about!

Can You Say "Fabulous"?!

Day 274

Hi!! Today is the first day off out of eight in a row, and I couldn't be more excited :-) However, the only reason I have that many days off in a row is because I asked for them off to spend the last week Adam's here with him. So, yeah... There's definitely a down side to this time off...

Anyways... A lighter note is that I woke up earlier than I normally would on a day off to head on over to Dillard's to purchase an item I've been wanting for a long time. I'll get to the details in a bit, but first: my causal outfit for the day consisted of a teal elephant-printed SammyDress.com top ($9) and my favorite American Eagle skinny jeans ($25).

Similar American Eagle cropped/holey jegging
IT'S AN ELEPHANT!! I don't know if you can tell, but I love elephants :-)

SammyDress.com top
For shoes, I wore a pair of brown Attention sandals ($8 from Plato's Closet). Cute and super comfy.

Similar sandal
OK, so on to the item I mentioned previously: a beautiful Michael Kors handbag. This bag (the tall Hamilton) was originally $298, but when I first started on the sales floor, it was marked down to $208. After a few weeks of being on sale, one of the two we had left sold, which made me sad because I thought it was the last one. Then, I discovered the second of the two in the stock room, and I jumped on the opportunity to set it aside to purchase it at a later date. Well, that date was today since it was the first day of an additional 30% off of already marked down items. AND I get my 25% employee discount on top of it. SO this beautiful bag was only $117 or so after tax. SOLD!!

MK tote (different site)
Earlier today I realized I hadn't posted a picture of my hair since I had gotten it done, so I thought I'd go ahead a do so now. Keep in mind, this is day-old hair, but the color and overall style is how it's supposed to be, so I went for it :-P

New hair color :-)
After purchasing my beautiful bag, I came home, relaxed for a bit, and then spent the rest of the day with Adam once he came home from work. It was a great first day off :-) I'm going to continue spending time with my love, so until the next time... Stay fabulous, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Baby Come Back (Spoken By My Greek Letters)

Day #273

Oh hey day off! :) I'm not really in the need of a day off, but I always enjoy and appreciate them.

It was crummy outside today, so I wasn't able to lay out like I would have liked to. You know, I was thinking yesterday- I know, shocking that I was thinking- it seems like almost every time I want to lay out on my day off, it's yucky outside, but the days that I'm stuck at work all afternoon, it's sunny. Just. My. Luck. UGH.

I went super casual today, rocking out my ADPi letters. So very chic. ;) lol  It seems like its been forever since I last wore a shirt with letters on it...how sad is that?! Anyways, I didn't forget about them, and they will be making more appearances this summer! Scouts honor!

Work Day #7... Finally Done

Day 273

Hey!! Today was the last work day in a week-long stint of working, and let me tell you what... I was very excited for it to be over :-P My closing shift went pretty well, which was just the icing on top of the cake. AND my outfit was really freaking fabulous, if I do say so myself.

This outfit consisted of pink RoseGal.com blazer ($25), a black-and-white printed Love Culture peplum top ($20 or so), and pair of black Daytrip jeggings ($50) from Buckle. Totally fabulous.

I love this blazer. It's so cute!!

For shoes, I decided to go with a tall pair of black SammyDress.com boots ($17). They're fierce.

After work, you'll never be able to guess what I did... Here's a hint: It consisted of doing absolutely nothing :-P That's my favorite after-work thing to do when I work a closing shift. For real. I'm going to get going now, though, so until the next time... Stay fabulous, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Rockin' The Crop

Day #272

So, we got some new tops at work!

One of which is an adorable brown printed almost crop top type of blouse. SUPER CUTE! It also comes in white, but we know I'm not good with white, and white is just too boring sometimes.

Work today wasn't too bad. It went by pretty quickly; Hallelujah! I just wanted to be outside tanning all day, so that's what I did when I was let off a little early. :)

Check out the new top, and definitely consider the purchase! It's so worth it!

Work Day #6

Day 272

Hi there!! So, my closing work shift went really well today, which was mostly because of how many compliments I received on my outfit. I mean, most of the time I look pretty freaking fabulous ;-) But today was an exception to the norm. I looked classy and professional, like I could totally be a full-time sales associate. Score :-)

This outfit consisted of a super fabulous Gianni Bini dress I had bought on sale for about $50 from Dillard's with a cropped white cardigan that I've had for forever.

Similar cropped white cardigan

I then added a fabulous statement necklace that's also from Dillard's ($40 on sale).

And the final piece of this outfit was a pair of silver pointy-toed Rue 21 flats ($20 or so).

I really did love this outfit way more than I had originally thought I would. FABULOUS!! After work, I basically spent the rest of my night just lounging about until bed. I don't know if you've noticed this or not, but I do love lounging around after work. It feels incredible :-) I'm going to head out, so until the next time... Stay fabulous, my lovelies!! Ciao!!
