Let's Get To Work!

Day #218

I seriously have so much stuff to do in preparation for this weekend! Like, food and sleep are not an option at this point.

I have Secret Spoiler gifts for the seniors to take care of, which the chapter is making very difficult for me to get done, stuff to still get for Founders' Day, and I have homework and study hours to get done. Ugh.

I got some of the Secret Spoiler gifts done, I did a bunch of packing up and cleaning in my room, got some homework done, and I even managed to get the last four mentored study hours done that I had left for the weekend. GO ME! :)

I'm feeling a tad better stress-wise than I was yesterday, but yesterday just seriously took so much out of me that I was real tired this morning when I woke up. Big shock. :P lol

Sorry for the lame and lazy outfit! I call it the "Typical College Student"...;)

Jersey Mike's, Chinese Buffet, and The Help

Day 218

Bonjour!! Today was a day off for me, so Adam and I decided to head on over to Jersey Mike's for lunch. Delicious!! I do love me some Jersey Mike's :-) After that, we ran some random errands and went home to relax before dinner, which consisted of going to a Chinese buffet that's close to our apartment since we didn't have anything thawed. It was yummy, but Chinese food always makes my stomach hurt :-/

My outfit today consisted of a Black Poppy dress I had bought from Plato's Closet for $12 and a skinny black belt that I've had for forever. Really cute and fairly simple. Just the way I like it :-)

Similar dress from PacSun
The pattern on this dress is my favorite :-)

Similar black belt
For shoes, I went with the pale mint green Mossimo flats I got from Target for $20. They're fabulous!! What I love the most about them (other than the fact they go with pretty much everything) is the fabulous stud detailing on the back.

Mossimo flats
See? Stud detailing!!

YAY for studded flats!!
After dinner, Adam and I watched The Help on Netflix and relaxed until bed. It was a pretty great, fairly chill day off. I like it :-) I'm going to head out, so until the next time... Stay fabulous, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Stress On Stress On Stress

Day #217

Today wasn't quite as bad! I was a little tired for class, but that's pretty typical, especially when my politics professor tells multiple stories that I don't really care about. :P

During class, I got an email from the Des Moines Alumnae Association President, Allison, talking about my Founders' Day event on Saturday and about the reunion that weekend. She was talking about being at the house to help set up on Saturday at 9:45, but the event wasn't supposed to start until 1, so I was confused as to why she was coming so early. Long story short, she had the event down as being from 10:30am until 2pm, without consulting with me, and the chapter had the event down in our calendar from 1-3pm. -_-  That means that I had to somehow use my $100 budget to now provide food for almost 200 people, which includes lunch. FML. I was already struggling to buy supplies, dessert and other additional items needed for the day, so I have no idea how I'm going to afford lunch! Ugh. -_-

After MULTIPLE emails back and forth between myself, Allison, and Lynette, my chapter President, I ended up getting the Alumnae Association to pitch in $200 for food, since the association is now making me provide lunch, I got supplies (cups, plates, etc.) from leftover events that were at the house, and I got the other additional items, food trays ordered, and drinks and cookies taken care of. It was a CRAZY day! :P

I was so beyond stressed for most of the day that I made myself sick, and I didn't even eat lunch. Going to work was a nice break from all the stress, and it helped me get my mind off of everything. Work was literally the highlight of my day. :P

Inside All Day

Day 217

Aloha!! Guess who had a day off and didn't do much of anything for the entire day?! Me, that's who!! And I loved every second of it!! I mean, OK... I did do some cleaning, and I did read a good chunk of a book in the Outlander series I've been reading, so I guess that counts as doing something :-P But other than that?? Nope. Nothing :-)

Even though I didn't do a whole lot of anything today, I did somehow look pretty cute. Go figure, right?! My lazy-day outfit consisted of a teal chevron-striped BKE tank top ($12 or so after my discount), a cream Mossimo sweater cardigan ($3 from Plato's Closet), and a dark wash pair of BKE cropped jeans ($42 or so after my discount). SO comfy!!

Last Day of Class!!

Day 216

Hi!! Today was a bittersweet day for me since it was my last day of class for the semester. I really did enjoy the classes I took, the teachers I had, and the students who were in the classes with me, so it's kind of sad that today was the last time together :-/ However, it's also INCREDIBLY fantastic that my semester is officially done. I took my last final and everything. YAY!!

For class today, I wore a really cute white lace BKE top (about $15 after my discount) over a dark tan camisole with my dark wash pair of Papaya shorts ($12). Cute, really comfy, and perfect for this incredibly hot day :-)

Somewhat similar Papaya shorts
I LOVE THIS TANK TOP!!

BKE tank top
To give my outfit some color/pattern, I added a chevron-striped pointy-toed pair of Old Navy flats that I had bought on sale for like $6 or so a long time ago. LOVE them!!

Old Nay flats (different site)
Once my last final was done (around like 4:30pm or so), I drove back home so Adam and I could relax together for the rest of the night. We ended up watching The Cabin in the Woods after a dinner of Alfredo pasta, and I won't lie, I kind of liked that movie. It's a different take on a horror movie, which is totally right up my alley :-)

All right, I'm going to head out, so until the next time... Stay fabulous, my fellow fashionistas!! Ciao!!

It's a "Blah" Kind of Day

Day #216

Ugh. I'm too tired to do anything today. I ended up not going to any of my classes today...oops! :P I was really tired, and I just wanted to relax and do some homework and cleaning, which I did end up doing!

Gage and I slept in, had a late lunch, and then I did some homework while he did some stuff for Iowa State. I got some cleaning done before my homework, so I felt a little better about getting packed up for the summer.

I didn't do much with my life or myself today, so sorry bout it.

Game of Thrones!!

Day 215

Hey!! I worked my first ever 9-6 closing Dock shift today at Dillard's, and it didn't go too bad, which was kind of shocking considering I was by myself for the last 3 hours of it :-P I was super exhausted by the time I clocked out, so going home sounded like the best idea ever. For real.

After work, I changed into a white Converse One Star top that has splotches of blue and purple on it ($8 from Plato's) and my cropped holey American Eagle skinny jeans ($25) because I really, really, really wanted to be super comfy while relaxing and doing homework. Goal accomplished :-)

Similar American Eagle cropped/holey jegging
This top is SO soft, it's crazy!! I love it!!

Similar Converse One Star top
It also has a high-low hem, which will look super cute in a non-comfy, more-fashionable outfit :-P

I love me a high-low top!!
In-between relaxing and homework, I got to watch the new Game of Thrones episode, which was PHENOMENAL!! I'm SO excited for the next one!! Now, I do have my last final tomorrow afternoon, so I should probably go study some more... Until the next time... Stay fabulous and forever trending, my fellow fashionistas!! Ciao!!

Chicago Day #3

Day #215

This morning, Gage and I checked out of our hotel room around 10:30 and headed to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch! I never been to the Cheesecake Factory before, so I was pretty stoked (and hungry)! I got a yummy french dip! :)

After lunch, we did some shopping. WAHOO! We all know how much I enjoy getting my shop on! :)  Michigan Avenue downtown Chicago is the place to be for all of your shopping needs. They had so many options!

We went to the official Chicago Blackhawks Shop, where I got a fitted v-neck Jonathan Toews jersey so I can support the hockey team with Gage, and he got a hat and a Stanley Cup 2013 patch thing for his Blackhawks jersey. Then we went to Forever 21! I got a pair of kitty pajamas, a cute skirt, and a sleeveless collared top. SO CUTE! After that, we still had some time to kill before the comedy show we were going to, so Gage forced me to go into Banana Republic to shop. I knew that it was going to be pretty pricey there, so I didn't plan on getting anything, but then I ended up finding a really cute top, skirt, oxford shirt, and tank top to buy. Naturally. :P lol  When we got to the checkout, I was only going to get the top and skirt, but the cashier said that if I spent $100, I would get $50 taken off my total, so duh I was going to spend $30 more dollars to reach $100! I ended up paying less for four items than I would had I only gotten the first two. WHAT A DEAL! Gage gave me no choice but to buy them. :)

The comedy show was HILARIOUS! I was laughing almost the entire hour and a half show! So good. :)  Gage even laughed a bunch, and that doesn't happen too often! That's how I knew it was good!

We stopped at Panda real quick for dinner, headed to my car, and got on the road by 7 for home. We got back into town around 12:30am, got all of our stuff inside, and called it a night. It was a long, but very fun weekend with my boyf! :)

Making That Money :-)

Day 214

Hi!! Guess what?! I worked yet another 7-3 Dock shift at Dillard's today, and it (again) went pretty well. Apparently my normal working is everyone else's "trying-really-hard" working, so I'm getting noticed a lot by managers and what not, which is always a good thing :-) My work outfit was the same as always (plain black shirt, comfy non-holey jeans, and closed-toe comfy shoes), so I didn't want to take a picture of it :-P

After work, I went home to relax, again, and not do a whole lot of anything. The "outfit" I chose for this "whole lot of nothing" part of my day consisted of a no name printed tee ($5 from Plato's) and a dark wash pair of Papaya shorts ($12). It's nothing too special, just super comfy. Sorry for the second boring outfit day in a row, but if I'm not planning on going anywhere after work, I'm not going to get all cute. It's just not going to happen :-P

Somewhat similar Papaya shorts
I spent the rest of my day relaxing, doing some homework, reading one of the books in my Outlander series, and hanging out with Adam. I DO love a low-key day, if I do say so myself :-) Well, I'm going to go relax some more, so until the next time... Stay fabulous and remember to relax every now and then, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Chicago Day #2

Day #214

I woke up this morning around 8:30am to get ready for our first full day in Chicago! How exciting?! :)

Gage and I left our hotel around 10:30am, went to Starbucks so I could get a Refresher- naturally-, and then we waited for the bus to arrive to take us to the Lincoln Park Zoo! Now, I don't know about you, but I am not a public transportation kind of girl by ANY means, but I had no choice this weekend but to suck it up and ride the buses and the trains. Ugh. I was such a big girl! I didn't complain once, and Gage even told me he was proud of me! :) haha

After the zoo, we went to Grant Park and Millenium Park, where I got to see the Amphitheater, the Bean, and a little bit of the art museum that is there. I was most excited for the Bean, which Gage and I obviously got a picture with! lol  I'm such a girl. :)

After all of that walking around, we went to lunch at Noodles and Company, and then headed back to our hotel. The plan was to just chill there for an hour or so, but we ended up falling asleep for THREE HOURS! I guess we were real tired! lol

Once we woke up, we fixed ourselves up again and got on the train to go out to Gage's first school he went to for college, and I got to see his old fraternity house and meet one of his friends. Then we went to a pizzeria, Giordanos, for dinner around 8pm, but it was so busy there still that we decided to get food to go. While we waited for our food, Gage and I walked to a nearby Starbucks, where I convinced Gage to get something to drink, and guess what? HE ACTUALLY LIKED IT!!! HALLELUJAH PRAISE THE LORD! hahahaha :)  It was such a magical moment in our relationship! ;)

The food we ate for dinner was delicious! After we ate in our room, we passed out for the night. It was a long day!

Chicago Bound

Day #213

After my morning classes, Gage and I loaded up my car and headed out for Chicago for the weekend, celebrating our one year! :)

I was so thankful for the good weather today! It made the drive nice!

Once we got into the suburbs of Chicago, around 4:30pm, I hit up my diamond twin, Ashley, since she lives in Chicago right now doing her student teaching. We had talked earlier in the week and decided that we wanted to meet up, the three of us, for dinner Friday night when she was done at school and Gage and I had arrived in town. :)

We met her at the house she's been staying at, and I just about cried when I saw her. I miss her so much, so they were definitely happy tears! :)  The three of us chilled at her house for a little bit, and then we headed out to dinner, at this place called Emerson's Ale House. IT WAS DELICIOUS! I definitely recommend checking it out if you're ever in the Chicago area! :)

After we said our goodbyes to Ashley, we drove into the city to meet up with one of Gage's fraternity brothers that he went to school with at Chicago's Illinois Institute of Technology, during his freshman year of college. His name is Joey, and he was really cool and funny! We hung out at his house for a while, so Gage and him got to catch up and watch the Chicago Blackhawks game, and I worked on an assignment that was due that night at 10. :P lol  It was a win/win...

Gage and I finally checked into our hotel room around 9:30/10pm, and we were so exhausted from the day that we just passed out! It was quite the first day in Chicago! I can't wait for tomorrow! :)

It's Too Hot

Day 213

Hola!! I definitely worked another 7-3 Dock shift at Dillard's today, and minus it being really ridiculously hot in the dock area, my work day actually went really well :-) More compliments came my way, and I really feel like I'm beginning to get a hang of the way things work in the dock. YAY!! My work outfit consisted of the same thing it always does (plain black top, comfy non-holey jeans, and a closed-toe pair of comfy shoes), which isn't very exciting...

And unfortunately, my non-work outfit was pretty unexciting as well. Since it was SO hot outside, I didn't want to leave the apartment once I got home, which meant my outfit was pretty blah. Sorry, but I'm not sorry. This non-exciting outfit consisted of a white Mossimo boyfriend tee from Target ($7) and a teal pair of Rewash shorts that I had bought on base for like $20 or so over a year ago.

Mossimo tee
I do really like the lace detailing on these shorts. It's super cute!!

I literally spent the rest of my day relaxing and doing random homework. Nothing too exciting to report here. Again, sorry, but not sorry. It was AMAZING to just sit and relax after working on my feet all day. True story :-) All right, I'm going to get going, so until the next time... Stay fabulous, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Mixing Things Up

Day #212

Back to work I went today- as usual! Seriously, Thursdays are probably my favorite! I get to sleep in a little, I only have one class, and I get to work Throwback Thursdays, which are always fun! :)

Today I tried a little bit different of an outfit, and I think it worked for me, but I don't know! I'll let you decide. lol  We won a standards "momentum" challenge at work, so we all got a maurices scarf. I finally got mine on Tuesday at work, so I thought I'd try to rock it out with an outfit today- obviously hiding the maurices logo on it (it's just not that "fashion forward"). lol  Sorry bout it.

Work, Work, and More Work

Day 212

Hey!! I worked another 7-3 Dock shift at Dillard's today, which went pretty darn well if I do say so myself. Nothing too exciting happened, but I did get told several times from several different people how I'm doing a really good job and how all of those people want me to be moved onto the sales floor into their departments ASAP. Sweet, right?! After work, I came home to relax a bit with Adam, one of my favorite things to do :-) From there, we ran a few errands and then went right back into relaxing.

My work outfit was the same plain-black-shirt-nice-comfy-jeans-closed-toe-shoes combo that it always is, but my other outfits for today were better, don't worry. My first non-work outfit consisted of a fitted navy-and-white striped Love Culture top ($9ish or so), a dark wash pair of Papaya shorts ($12), and a teal pair of pointy-toed American Eagle flats ($7.50). Decently cute and really comfy.

Similar Love Culture top

After a makeshift dinner, Adam and I went over to the Montgomery's for some Cards Against Humanity, which was REALLY fun :-) This is where my second non-work outfit came into play. I changed into a no name Little Mermaid tee ($6 from Plato's), my cropped holey American Eagle skinny jeans ($25), and the same flats from earlier.

Oh So Trendy!

Day #211

I don't know why, but I felt the need to get all dressed up today and look cute! :)

I was feeling much better today, in terms of getting back into the swing of my school schedule, so that was a plus! Also, I feel like I got so much accomplished today. I was busy busy busy getting things done and getting caught up on school work. I was so proud of myself! lol

It was pretty nice outside today, so I rolled some jeans up into long capris, put on a nice tank top, and threw on my leather jacket. It was the perfect "kind of spring" outfit! :)

Last School-Filled Wednesday

Day 211

Hi!! So, today was my last Wednesday in school for the semester. YAY!! Nothing too special happened other than the weather being really nice and me getting a ton of homework done :-P Sorry there's nothing interesting to report, it was just an uneventful yet great day.

My outfit, which I got several compliments on BTW, consisted of a Pinky cream crochet top that I had bought for about $25 after my discount from Buckle, a dark tan camisole, and my cropped holey American Eagle skinny jeans ($25 on sale). Cute, right?!

This shirt is for real fabulous :-)

Pinky top
For shoes, I decided to go for this pair of brown Kimchi Blue strappy flats/sandals that I had bought from Urban Outfitters for like $20 on sale. I LOVE THEM!!

After my last class-filled Wednesday ended, I went home to relax, do homework, and be the night owl I am for the rest of the night. Again, nothing too exciting here :-P I'm going to head out, so until the next time... Stay fabulous, my lovelies!! Ciao!!

Why Does Life Always Have to Get Complicated When I'm Settled?!?!

Day 210

Hey!! Today, I worked another 7-3 Dock shift at Dillard's wearing the standard outfit of a plain black top, non-holey jeans, and close toe shoes, and it went really well. I'm apparently doing a really good job without meaning to be that outstanding or anything. I guess my "normal" working is above-and-beyond working for my managers?? Not a bad thing, by any means, since it makes me look good. Anyways, my work day went well :-)

Now, a quick story on something that happened yesterday before I go any further with my day today: Yesterday, before my second class, a guy manger-in-training that I had worked with at Buckle called me asking if I'd be able to talk with him after getting off of work at 3 the next day (or today), and I said I would out of curiosity.

Fast forward to today after work: I went into Buckle where the guy was waiting for me. We left the store to go sit at a table in the mall so we could talk. Apparently the manager at Buckle and two full-time leaders are leaving (or have left already) to go to the busier store in Clearwater, thus freeing up a ton of hours. Since this happened, the Buckle I worked at can now guarantee me 30 hours every week, which is what I had wanted originally but hadn't been able to get, hence me leaving. Basically, they want to offer me a job better than what I had previously.

What really gets me about this offer is that it has to come after I finally get settled at Dillard's and have everything figured out for the most part. Life just has to complicate things. Of course, I'm not going back to Buckle, but still... They finally try to give me what I want when I'm no longer interested. Figures :-P

So, anyways... After work and talking to the guy from Buckle, I went home, changed, and then left with Adam to go back to the mall for some errand-running. Yup. I leave work to go back to the mall I work in. Doesn't make any sense. Oh well, I never make sense anyways.

My outfit for the non-work part of my day consisted of a white BKE Red shirt that has lace sleeves (about $15 after my discount) with a tan camisole underneath and my basic pair of dark wash Papaya shorts ($12). I just threw it on so we could take off, and I don't think I did too bad for a quick decision. Actually, I think it turned out pretty cute :-)

Somewhat similar Papaya shorts
What really sold me on this shirt was the sleeves, for real. I love a pretty lace sleeve :-)

BKE Red top
To add some color and pattern, I went with the chevron-striped pointy-toed pair of Old Navy flats that I had bought a while back for like $6 or so. CUTE!!

Old Nay flats (different site)
At the mall, Adam and I went to the Pandora store to price out some charms for the bracelet he got me for my birthday. We actually ended up getting a really cute giraffe one for $25, and I'm super excited about it!! From there, we went into the PeachMac store to price out an iPad Mini for Adam to take on his deployment. Next, we left the mall to go to Wells Fargo to hand in some paperwork-type stuff for a college credit card application I filled out online. Lastly, we stopped by PetCo quick to pick up some cat food. Errands accomplished!!

After finishing our errands, Adam and I went back to the apartment to eat some leftovers for dinner, relax, and watch the Game of Thrones episode we missed on Sunday. It was a really, really good episode, in case anyone was curious ;-) Once the episode ended, Adam went to bed while I worked on homework and relaxed until going to bed myself.

I'm going to head out, so until the next time... Stay fashionable and productive, my fellow fashionistas!! Ciao!!

Back to Work

Day #210

Yesterday was quite the struggle. The first day back from vacation is always the hardest, especially when I got used to staying up late and sleeping in each day. Ugh.

Today was a little better, however. I had my two classes, and then I went to work for the night. It was weird being back at work. A lot of new clothes were in, which is both bad and good- good for new items to sell, bad for new items that I want to buy! lol  I was a little rusty for the first thirty minutes or so, and then I bounced back and got into the swing of things again at good 'ole maurices!

I went for a casual comfy look for work today. Check it out!
