Happy Easter and a Flight Back Home

Day #208

Today was a sad day. We picked up Adam, my brother-in-law from the airport early in the morning, about 2am, and then we went back to the apartment and stayed up for another hour talking.

My family slept in late, until around 11 or so, ate lunch altogether- we had chicken and noodles that my mom made for Easter lunch- and then we packed all our stuff up. Around 2pm we headed out for the airport. :(

As sad as I was to leave, I was a little eager to get back home. I was missing Gage, my own bed, and I knew I had a lot of stuff to get done back home that I was avoiding on vacation. I wasn't ready, however, to say goodbye to Kassy and Adam, especially since we only got to see Adam for a handful of hours.

When we were loading up, Adam decided it would be best for him to stay back at the apartment and not go to the airport with us. He was really exhausted and tired, so I don't blame him, but that just meant that we had to say our goodbyes even earlier, and that Kassy would have to ride home by herself.

I was a HUGE MESS, as I'm sure you could guess, when I said goodbye to Adam. I'm really close to Adam, so I was struggling a lot to say goodbye and accept the fact that this could be one of the last times I see him in the next year, since he will be deployed with the Air Force. I got into Kassy's car and just sat there in silence until Adam made me get out of the car to give him a hug. As soon as he came to my door, I started bawling and I was so upset. :(

Getting to the airport was even worse. Kassy was a hot mess, I was a hot mess, my mom was a hot mess, and so were Katy and Kimmy. I hated leaving her, and I wish that her and Adam lived closer so we didn't have to say goodbye like this.

Luckily, the flight was really smooth, we landed early, and the weather in Iowa was BEAUTIFUL! Since we got in Cedar Rapids early, we stopped for dinner at Taco Bell (nom nom!) and then hit the road for Cedar Falls. We got home around 7:30, I went back to my dorm to unpack, and then I met up with Gage. :)

Overall, it was a great vacation! Now I just have a few more weeks to go until summer! Wahoo! :)
