Day Twenty!!
What up?!?! So, this girl got off of work an hour early today. Pure awesomeness!! I went in at 9:45, it was super duper slow for most of the day, and I ended up leaving a little before 5 instead of 6 like I was scheduled. Definitely won't complain about that :-) I was super happy about getting off early because my hubby had a tattoo appointment for 5:30, and I didn't have to miss it or be late for it. YAY!!
For work today, I wanted to look cute while still remaining somewhat comfy, so I went with this tan-and-black chevron striped Charlotte Russe tie-front shirt that just so happened to be a Plato's purchase from earlier this week. Big shocker there, right? This shirt is slightly cropped, which means I either wear normal shorts and bare my midriff to the world OR I could wear higher-wasted shorts. Me, being the classy girl I am, opted to go with the higher-waisted shorts :-)
Now, what's important to note about this adorable top is that it has some really cute shoulder detailing. Three little gold stud-like things on each shoulder. I mean, how precious is that?! I honestly didn't even notice this little detail when I purchased this $7 top until I got home and was hanging it up in my closet like 3 days after the fact. I guess one could make the argument that I'm not very observant at times... That's a very fair argument to make :-P
The only difference between my work outfit and my non-work outfit is the top. As cute as this chevron-striped top is, the fabric of it kind of made me pit out slightly (gross, right?!). I NEVER pit out, like EVER, but this kind of fabric always gets to me whenever it's decently hot out while I'm wearing it. It's a huge pain in my toosh :-P
Anywho... For both my work time and my non-work time today, I wore my favorite BDG (Urban Outfitters) dark denim high-waisted shorts that were a Plato's buy. I have adored these shorts from the moment I saw them come into the store, and I'm so glad I had convinced myself to try them on. Well... OK. A fellow co-worker of mine told me to go for it since I kept saying how I wasn't sure if I could pull off high-waisted shorts as these shorts aren't full on high-waisted. I ended up falling in love with them the moment I put them on, and it has been a happy-ever-after kind of relationship since ;-)
When I got home from work, I changed out of my adorable Charlotte Russe top into a tank top I had bought from Plato's a few weeks ago. It's a racer back XXI tank that literally cost me like $5, I kid you not. I have no idea how to explain the pattern other than it's in neutral colors, and it's simply totes adorable :-) What I love the most about this tank top is that it A) shows off my fabulous tattoo and B) it has a lace section in the back that gives it a little something special. I picked it because it's super humid outside today, and I wanted to be cool as possible.
Big shocker alert: I wore my new mint green Forever 21 sandals again :-P These sandals just look so incredibly cute with pretty much every outfit imaginable, NBD. What can I say?! I can't argue with cuteness like this. That's just right ;-) What makes me laugh about these sandals, though, is that they cost more than not only my tank top but my shorts as well. IDK why I find it funny... I just do.
Even though the work part of my day was pretty slow, it was still a pretty good day. I didn't have to open at 9 like I had thought I was supposed to (which was awesome and allowed me to sleep in an extra 45 minutes) I got off just over an hour early (which is a solid win), and I was able to partake in the entire tattoo appointment for my hubby. Definitely a pretty good day overall :-)
My hubby's tattoo appointment was for 5:30 at a tattoo studio called Iron Rose, and after some font-finding and free-hand sketching on my husband's calf, the tattooing started around 6. I won't lie... I originally wasn't a huge fan of the tattoo my husband wanted because it was kind of dark even though it was Harry Potter, but after seeing the free-hand sketch the tattoo artist did and the finished product, I will say that it is a pretty darn cool tattoo. The detailing is phenomenal, and I do love that it's Harry Potter without being obviously Harry Potter. Only TRUE Harry Potter fans would make the connection (my hubby and I are HUGE Harry Potter fans... NBD).
The Iron Rose tattoo studio is fairly small with only a reception area and two smaller tattooing rooms, and it's located inside of a pretty huge gym called Calta's Fitness. This gym is cool because it has other retail-like places inside of it as well as being next door to a huge laundromat. To get to the tattoo studio, you have to go inside the gym, go left past the desk and the workout machines on the lefthand wall, go down the hallway that leads to the women's locker room, take the staircase around the corner on your left, and the tattoo studio's entrance is on the left when you reach the second floor with open air to the right (there's a sturdy railing there) where you can look down upon the main part of the gym. It sounds really confusing and complicated, but it really isn't :-P
The tattoo artist (Drew) who did my husband's tattoo has been tattooing for 13 years, and what I think is really cute is how his wife is the receptionist for his tattoo studio. How adorable, right?! They're both really funny and have really cool personalities. The other tattoo artist who works there is "in-training" and can handle smaller tattoos, whereas the main artist does the bigger/more intricate ones. The tattoo studio has a really cozy, homey feel, and the people who work/hang out there only add to that feeling. The hubby and I are MOST DEFINITELY going there for all of our tattoo needs while we are living in Florida!! Mine's next (we're taking turns), and I'm super stoked. I have a whole bunch of ideas on what I want, and once I get some time off when they have some availability, I am, without a doubt, setting up an appointment :-)
After my hubby's 3hour long appointment was over (around 9pm or the shop's closing time), we were super duper hungry. Like CRAZY hungry. It was ridiculous. We ordered pizza from Papa John's the second we got in the car, and we were devouring it like 20 minutes later :-P The two of us finished off a large pizza in no time. It was crazy. Afterwards, we watched the new episode of The Newsroom (an HBO show) and just relaxed for the rest of the night. It was quite wonderful :-)
Like I said, it was a pretty good day overall. What I'm the most excited for, though, is having a day off with my love tomorrow since it NEVER happens!! I have no idea what we are going to do (other than clean the apartment a bit and hang out with one of my hubby's USAF friends and the friend's wife), but I do know that I'm going to enjoy just spending an entire day with my love :-)
Well, my fellow fashionistas, this blogger has to hit the hay. Even though my work day wasn't as long as it could have or should have been, it was still tiring to be on my feet :-P Have a fantabulous night, and until tomorrow... Stay fabulous :-) Ciao!!
-Kassy
