New Ink!!

Day 34!!

Sorry I didn't post this last night. After working 9:45-6, being at the tattoo place 6:30-8:30, and doing homework/catching up on Project Runway 7-11:30, I was pretty tired. I would've posted to show off my new tattoo, but it was all wrapped up and trying to take a selfie of the tattoo with one hand is really hard :-P I'm posting now, though, so it's all good.

Yesterday, I wore one outfit for work and then changed into something more simple and comfy for my tattoo appointment. For work, I wore a white, see-through, lace-ish H&M shirt with a dark tan Charlotte Russe camisole underneath to cover up the goodies. Both of these pieces were $5 at their respective stores, so an awesome deal :-) I chose to wear my new American Eagle skinny cropped jeans that I bought the day before for $28 in store (an OK deal) with a brown floraly belt and some super cute moccasins that I had purchased from Plato's for $8. These moccasins are sooooo cute!! They don't have a brand, and based on the markings on the inside, I'm guessing they might have been handmade. Unique and super cute?? WIN!!

After work, I changed into my black-and-white geometric-printed H&M tank top that I had got for $5 at Plato's and my good 'ole higher-waisted dark denim BDG shorts (also a Plato's buy). It was comfy, and the tank made it easy for the tattoo artist to tattoo me since it was going on the inside part of my upper left arm. You can kind of see where the wrapping is in the picture.

For shoes, I decided to wear my blue crocheted TOMS that my hubby had gotten me for my birthday. LOVE THEM!! What I thought was really cool about this shoe choice was that the tattoo artist and his apprentice had never heard of TOMS before. They saw my shoes, thought they looked really cool, and then I told them all about TOMS and what they do. While I was getting my tattoo, the apprentice was on his phone checking out the TOMS website. By the time my tattoo was done, he already had a handful of shoes in his shopping cart. It was super cool that I was able to make them aware of this awesome cause :-) That doesn't happen very often since a lot of the people I know have already heard of TOMS. It worked out perfectly that the apprentice was there because apparently he is a HUGE shoe fan. Like, he has a large shoe collection, as well as a shoe tattoo on his stomach. So, yeah... I kind of fed into his addiction a little bit... But at least he'll be doing some good by purchasing a pair of TOMS. Still a win (I think) :-)

Ok, so after I got my tattoo, I forgot to take a picture before it was wrapped, which meant that my tattoo was covered up for the first 3 hours. In other words, I wasn't able to try and take a picture until like 11:30. By that point, I was too tired to attempt to take a decent picture and just went to bed :-P Instead, I read the third book in my series to wind down for the night before I went to bed so the last thing on my mind wasn't homework because that's no fun.

I waited to take a picture of my tattoo until after I showered and got mostly ready for the day since I didn't want to look ratchet in the picture :-P So... After much ado... Here's my tattoo: it's a feather that breaks off at the top into birds flying away with the works "let it be" in cursive underneath. The picture makes it look like it's on the inside of my right arm, but it's really on the inside of my left. When I took the picture, the words looked backwards, so I just flipped it to make it readable.

I had sent several pictures to the tattoo artist so he could get an idea of what I wanted, but I also wanted him to make something that's more unique that no one else would have. I LOVE how it turned out!! He did a perfect job of giving me something that's different but still super soft and feminine. Keep in mind that this is the same guy who did my husband's super BA tattoo. Talented guy, right?? Right.

The reason I wanted this tattoo was because it symbolizes how important it is for me to just let life happen (or "let it be") instead of trying to plan, control, and manipulate it like I always do. It's not healthy to try and control or plan out everything around you, especially if you have a spouse who's in the military like mine is. I need to learn to give up control and put my life in His hands. If I can do that, I know I'll be happier and less stressful. This tattoo will just be a constant reminder that I'm not in control of  my life and that I need to trust in Him to do what's best for me :-)

So... yeah. That's all I've got for now. It's time for this girl to do some laundry and some dishes before her hubby gets home. I'll put up my post for today later in the evening, so until then... Stay faithful, my lovelies :-) Ciao!!
